When you are a twin, you are going to be called upon to do a lot for your sibling. This becomes especially true for the twin sister of a bride or groom on their special day. If you are getting called on to do a speech for the wedding, then you are no doubt going to want to know what to do and how to do it. Chances are, if you’re readying this, you don’t know how to prepare a speech, or perhaps you aren’t really sure what to say when the spotlight comes to you. Don’t panic. The first thing that you should know is that you are not going to be expected to be a great orator. You are simply going to be looked at with love and admiration for even getting up to say something. With that in mind, consider a few notes on how to write a good speech for the big day of your sibling.
The Introduction First
The first thing that you should write is the introduction. Introduce yourself and make sure that you talk about how you know the bride and groom. Even if it’s already known, just talk from the heart, and then share your name, and why you’re standing up to say something. You should be honest, and sincere about this, always favoring the big day and how special it is, and what a great honor it is to say something.
Tell A Story
You should tell an anecdote about love, or you should talk about a story of love and how you have seen the couple grow together and become a great partnership. You can always go with something that is common about love, including the verses from the Holy Bible about love that are found in the Corinthians. You will find that if you just rely on speaking about love and honor, you will fill up a great deal of space with any story you decide to tell.
Write It All Down
You should write down your speech including the introduction and your story on a piece of paper. That way you can see how long it is, and you can read it out loud. Once you test it out loud, you should figure out how long it is, and what it sounds like. The more you do this, the better your edit can become. You will find that you can edit the page the way you want and say more or less depending on what you want to move forward with.
Write Several Versions
The best bit of advice that you can take today in regard to a wedding speech is to write several different options. Don’t just write one speech, write several and see what sounds best to you. Read it out loud in a mirror and just keep moving forward with the things that you want to say. You’ll find that this will help you get the right words out, and will no doubt pay off dividends in due time.
